Second Mobile Mark Antenna Certified For Commercial And Military Use On Iridium System

Itasca, IL, September 3, 2015 – Mobile Mark, Inc. announced that Iridium Communications, Inc. has certified a second Mobile Mark Surface Mount Iridium® Combination Antenna for commercial and military use in connection with the Iridium Communications systems.

According to Michael Berry, President of Mobile Mark, “Fleet Management systems operating in remote areas of the world without cellular coverage often rely on a combination of the Iridium Communication system and GPS satellites for dependable data communications and location tracking.  Typical users include long-distance trucks operating in lightly-populated areas or Military conveys operating in areas without developed Cellular networks. An antenna that connects with the Iridium system offers an additional communication link in these settings.”

Mobile Mark’s SM-1650/1575 Series, unveiled earlier in 2015, consists of both an Iridium antenna and a GPS antenna.  This low profile antenna measuring 114 mm D x 24 mm H (4.5” D x .95” H) can be mounted to surfaces that are up to 5.3 mm (7/32-inches) thick.  A metal ground-plane is required for optimum performance.

The LTM503 Series is the most recent Mobile Mark antenna to receive Iridium certification.  It contains an Iridium antenna, a GPS antenna as well as a Cellular/LTE antenna and a WiFi antenna. The 4-antenna LTM503 Series is designed for data modems that can switch from Cellular to WiFi or to Iridium for the Comms data link.

The broad-band Cellular/LTE antenna element covers 694-960 & 1710-2170 MHz and the WiFi element covers 2.4-2.5 & 4.9-6.0 GHz. The Cellular/LTE element provides 3 & 4 dBi gain and the WiFi element provides 5 dBi gain.

The Iridium antenna provides 3.5 dBi gain over the entire 1616-1626.5 MHz range and the GPS antenna module, operating at 1575 MHz, provides LNA 26 dB and 5 dBi nominal RHCP.

Mobile Mark’s Surface Mount Iridium® Combination Antennas are very rugged and will continue to provide reliable connections even in difficult conditions.  The antennas meet numerous military & industrial specs, including MIL-810G, and have a water ingress rating of IPx7.  They are ideal choices for vehicles fleets that are operating in tough environments and in geographically isolated areas.

Mobile Mark’s combination Iridium® & GPS antenna and its combination Iridium®, Cellular, WiFi & GPS antenna will be on display at the Mobile Mark stand at the upcoming DSEI exhibition, serving Defense, Security and Military personnel on 15-18 September in London, England
