MOBILE MARK’S ANTENNA CERTIFIED FOR COMMERCIAL USE ON IRIDIUM® SYSTEM

NEW ANTENNA FOR SMART GRID COMMUNICATIONS

Itasca, IL, January 13, 2015 – Mobile Mark, Inc. announced that Iridium Communications, Inc. has certified the Mobile Mark Surface Mount Iridium® & GPS Combination Antenna for commercial use in connection with the Iridium Communications systems. The new antenna will be displayed at the upcoming 2015 Distributech Expo for Smart Grid Communications.

According to Michael Berry, President of Mobile Mark, “Fleet Management systems operating in hard to reach areas of the globe will often rely on a combination of the Iridium Communication systems and GPS satellites for dependable data communications and location tracking. Smart grid communications networks that cross lightly-populated areas are often in places where Cellular networks provide less coverage. An antenna that connects with the Iridium system offers an additional communication link in these settings.”

Mobile Mark’s new SM-1650/1575 Series consists of both an Iridium antenna and a GPS antenna. The Iridium antenna provides 3.5 dBi gain over the entire 1616-1626.5 MHz range and is fed with an RG-58 cable. The GPS antenna module provides LNA 26 dB and 5 dBi nominal RHCP at 1575 MHz and is fed with an RG-174 cable

This low profile combination antenna measures 4.5” D x .95” H (114 mm x 24 mm). It will mount to surfaces that are up to 7/32-inches (5.3 mm) thick. A metal groundplane is required for optimum performance.

Mobile Mark’s Surface Mount Iridium® & GPS Combination Antenna is very rugged and will continue to provide reliable connections even in difficult conditions. It is an ideal choice for vehicles fleets that are operating in geographically isolated areas. Typical applications would include long distance truckers, military vehicles, mining operations, or freight trains.

This new antenna will be on display at the Mobile Mark booth (#1144) at the upcoming Distributech conference, Feb. 3-5, 2015 in San Diego. The antenna can be used for fleet management to stay in contact with vehicles servicing remote potions of the smart grid communications network.
