A1842 Series (No-Ground-Plane UHF)

The A1842 Series is designed for UHF vehicle locations that cannot provide an adequate ground plane. Its half-wave configuration maintains unity gain without one, while a suitable ground plane raises the documented gain to 2.4 dB.

At 13.5 inches, the whip is shorter than the higher-gain A1843 and A1845 alternatives. Five frequency choices divide 406–512 MHz into ordering ranges, and brite or black finishes are available; the exact shock-spring suffix remains a review item.

Ideal applications: compact vehicle UHF LMR installations with limited ground-plane availability.
