WiFi MIMO And 4G LTE Antennas Improve The Public Transit Experience

Wireless accessibility continues to shape our everyday experiences. New protocols, such as WiFi MIMO and 4G LTE, make it possible to transmit large volume of data at faster speeds. Wireless accessibility in the Public Transit Sector has resulted in more accurate fleet tracking, optimized scheduling, and an all-around improved rider experience.

Mobile Mark antennas have been part of the solutions, from the single element 4G LTE antenna with efficient broadband coverage to the multiband Fleet Management antenna to the WiFi MIMO antenna delivering mobile hot spots to riders.

Mobile Mark’s broadband RM-WLF antennas features a single antenna element covering all cellular frequency bands from 694-2700 MHz including: Cellular 3G, 4G LTE, AWS, UMTS, and higher frequency LTE applications. These antennas can even support Verizon’s XLTE, AT&T’s LTE-A (Advanced LTE) and Sprint’s Spark at 2.5 GHz.

The RM-WHF features a compact radome that is rugged enough to withstand impact from weather or vandalism. It can be mounted to the Bus or Tram for mobile applications or it can be mounted on a bus shelter to transmit up-to-the-minute bus information.

A fully connected fleet is critical to timely and efficient public transit operations. Mobile Mark’s 3-cable SMW-305 surface mount antenna covers GPS, Cellular 4G LTE and WiFi. GPS captures the transit vehicle’s location, 4G LTE transmits the information to central control and WiFi allows data downloads at the central station or at stations along the route.

When high speed, high capacity 4G LTE MIMO (multiple-input-multiple-output) modems are used, two antennas elements are needed for optimum performance. Mobile Mark’s LTM501 contains two 4G LTE antenna elements operating on all Cellular 4G LTE frequencies from 694-2700 MHz, two dual-band 2.4 & 5 GHz WiFi elements as well as GPS.

As WiFi service is added for passenger convenience, Mobile Mark’s SMD antennas provide three identical WiFi elements in a single enclosure. Typically installed on the ceiling of the bus or commuter train, these compact and attractive antennas provide passengers with an efficient, high speed WiFi connection. These rugged antennas are NEMA 4X approved.

With Mobile Mark’s extensive line of WiFi and 4G LTE antennas, we make it easy to find the antenna that fits each public transit wireless requirement.

These antennas will be on display this summer in the Mobile Mark booth at the ITS America Show in June 2015.
