Itasca, IL – May 3, 2016 – Mobile Mark, Inc. continues to offer antenna solutions certified by Iridium Communications, Inc.® for commercial and military use in a variety of applications. The SM-1620/1575 is a popular combination antenna designed for Iridium Communications systems used by long distance truckers, military vehicles, mining operations, or freight trains.
Under the radome of the SM-1620/1575 is an Iridium antenna module coupled with a separate GPS antenna module. The Iridium antenna module operates in the frequency range of 1616-1626.5 Mhz, with 3.5 dBi gain, and comes standard with RG-58 cable. The GPS portion of the antenna uses the 1575 MHz band with LNA 26 dB and 5 dBi nominal RHCP, and is fed with RG-174 cable as a base option.
The SM-1620/1575 measures 4.5” in diameter and .95” in height (114 mm x 24 mm), and will mount to surfaces that are up to 7/32-inches (5.3 mm) thick. It can easily mount to a vehicle roof, trunk, or bulkhead, and comes standard with a 5/8’x 18/32’ (16mm x 14mm) base bolt thread. The antenna requires a metal groundplane for the best possible performance, and it is sold with a sealing gasket and all necessary mounting hardware for proper installation. The SM-1620/1575 has also been tested at our Chicago facility for shock and vibration according to various industrial & military specifications.
“The radome of the SM-1620/1575 has an attractive low profile that is ideal for vehicle mounting,” said Tam Chau, Antenna Design Engineer at Mobile Mark, “The design allows the antenna to be unobtrusive while still delivering top notch performance on the 1575 MHz and 1616-1626 MHz bands.”
With a rugged design that can stand up to harsh conditions, and the capability of providing a high quality signal even in very remote locations, the SM-1620/1575 is an ideal fit for Mobile Mark customers looking to add Iridium Communications and GPS capability to their mobile systems.
